Wellness

I haven’t been here in a while and it seems like time is zipping by as usual.I feel like I have been saying that a lot lately.

Anyway, today’s post is inspired by a YouTube video video I recently watched. The main message of the video was that all aspects of our wellness are important, particularly our spiritual and physical wellness. If we are physically healthy, we are in a much better position to serve God and grow our spiritual lives.

This got me thinking about how our bodies are temples. When I think of the word temple, I think of  a sacred or holy space and I believe it is only right that we treat our bodies as such. When we take care of our temples, we are honoring God and appreciating the gift of life bestowed upon us.

In an attempt to honor my temple, I have taken a conscious effort to eat and live better. I am not always on track…ahem life, but I am trying. What are some of the ways you incorporate wellness/self care in your life?Do you think there is a correlation between physical and spiritual health?

Lots of love,

Ruth.

P is for Purpose

Happy Friday!

We’ve all once come to a point in our life where we question what our purpose is?Some people figure it out right away and are set on living in the glory of their purpose. For others, the journey to finding one’s purpose may take a while, with a few twists and turns along the way.

I believe each one of us has a purpose here on earth.I wish I could give you a magic formula to find out what that is,if you’re still trying to figure it out.As the body of Christ,our purpose should strive to bring God glory.If you’re still on the path to figuring out your purpose,may I suggest a few things;

1.Focus on something you really enjoy doing.

2.How does this bring glory to God?

3,Are you utilizing your talents/abilities?

4.Think outside the box and don’t limit yourself.

I hope these tips help you in some way.I would like to know what your purpose is,and/ or what you enjoy doing for the benefit of the kingdom of God.

Thank you for reading.

Lots of love,

Ruth

Endless Possibilities

I hope you are all enjoying your weekend.April is here and man, days are cruising.I keep saying that every month. How was everyone’s Easter?I hope it was special and meaningful to you. This post is a tad late seeing as Easter came and went, but I’m writing it nevertheless.

At Easter service, I was reminded of God’s unconditional love through the death of Jesus, which we all know was the ultimate sacrifice.Jesus paid the price for our sins and that is not something I take for granted.I was also reminded how nothing is impossible with God.We serve such an awesome God, whose own Son went through trials and a painful death to highlight His love for us.We also see God’s power when Jesus rose 3 days later.God made that possible!I want you to think about that for a second and let it marinate.

The same God who rose Jesus from the dead is the same God who watches over you and  me.If He could do that, imagine all the endless possibilities we have if we diligently serve and love Him.Nothing is too big or too small for God.Sometimes, it may seem like a  situation is beyond challenging and there is no way out, but there is hope. Luke 1;37 reassures us “For nothing will be impossible with God.” We can stand on this promise because we have evidence of God doing what is humanly impossible, through Jesus’ death and resurrection.

I hope you all have a lovely weekend & month.

PS: Special thanks to Brandon J. Adams for highlighting me on his blog a few weeks ago.Thank you to all the readers who found out about me through his post.I appreciate you all.If you don’t know about Brandon, I highly recommend checking his blog out.He has such a fire for God and writes about various topics relating to millenials and faith.

Lots of love,

Seasons

As we quickly approach Spring time,we are reminded that the seasons are changing. The trees are blooming, the sun is shining brighter and things appear more vibrant. In the same way, the seasons in our lives go through constant changes.

Sometimes we have to go through winter in our personal lives, which may be characterized by all sorts of difficulties ( job loss, divorce, loss of loved ones, financial difficulties or whatever it may be).The beauty of it is that we are never truly alone as children of God.We may endure suffering and trials, but He is always with us and He will always see us through it.Eventually, our winter ends and we find ourselves in Spring.

If you are going through a rough season, please be encourgaed and remember that it will end.Just as the trees are blooming all around us,the trees will bloom in your life too.Stay faithful to the word of God,remain positive and remember that this too shall pass.

I hope this month is amazing for you.I pray you accomplish all your dreams and goals.

Love,

Ruth

Be Still & Listen

be-still-191-picture280489433.jpg

I read somewhere that our relationship with God is just like our normal everyday relationships where we share, listen, talk etc. However,in our relationship with God,we *raises hand* are more of the talker than the listener. Each time we reach out to Him in prayer,we are doing most of the talking.Imagine a relationship where someone talked your ear off and didn’t listen to you at all!

I have been challenging myself to listen more to God and what He is trying to say to me.Let’s face it,the girl has things she needs and wants and I’m constantly asking, asking and asking for something.

I’ve had moments in the past few weeks where I have asked God for something with the belief that He will answer my prayers(s).He will answer alright, but sometimes it may not be the answer we are looking for….and this is where we need to be still and listen. As humans,we want what we want, whenever we want it and expect God to be on board with it.Sometimes,I imagine he’s just like “Nah,not today my child” and we need to be ok with that.

I am a firm believer in the notion that God knows best and we should take an active approach in listening to Him.Things will not always go the way you expect them to.I am comforted by Jeremiah 29:11 and Psalms 46:10 because I am reminded that He is in control and has the best plans for my life. All I need to do is be still and listen.

How has listening to God affected your life? Was there a time when you didn’t listen? What happened?I’d love to know.

Thank you for reading.

Love,

Ruth

Do Not Give In To Fear

fear-quotes-1

Happy Friday!!

I hope everyone has had a  great week.

This week I want to talk about fear.Fear can manifest in different forms. Some types of fear are logical while others are not. This week I was confronted by situations that incited fear within me regarding certain aspects of my life. The cool thing though, is that throughout the week, I was beautifully drowned by various scripture and devotionals that reminded me not to be fearful. It was almost like God reassuring me that I did not need to have fear.

Fear can be crippling and can stunt your growth. We have all been in situations where we stayed way too deep in our comfort zone. This can be fear of new opportunities, friendships/relationships, business ventures, ideas, challenges etc.Think about how many time you have talked yourself out of something simply because of fear. What’s the worst thing that could happen if you just tried something?

I am here to remind you that as children of God, we are instructed numerous times to never give in to fear. 2 Timothy 1:7 says For the Spirit God gave us does not make us timid, but gives us power, love and self-discipline.”Remain steadfast in your faith and do not allow fear to control you or influence your life.

Thank you for reading!

Love,

Ruth
